UiT Autonomous Test Vessel

The UiT Autonomous Test Vessel is preparing for the initial sea trials.

Project Summary: The main objective in this research project is to develop the digital helmsman, ie cloned human navigator behavior, as a part of ship intelligence to operate future vessels. That will be done by analyzing real-world shipping navigation data sets collected by the UiT autonomous test vessel. The data analysis process consists of developing a deep learning based neural network to mimic human ship navigator behavior in a test vessel, supported by an onshore remote operational center. Furthermore, the cognitive ability of such neural networks under various information sources and visualization methods including human, AI, technology and regulation interactions will also be investigated to support this project.

A comparison between the digital twin and blockchain digital networks is also elaborated in this presentation. The subtopics of this presentation consist of Evolution of Digital Networks, What is a Digital Network, Evolution of Digital Twin, What is a Blockchain, The Birth of a Blockchain, The Main Chain, Digital Twin & Blockchain, The Orphan Blocks, and Common Features of such digital networks.

Digital Twin as System of Systems?

This presentation will focus on the topic of Digital Twin as a System of Systems. That consists of an overview of developing the digital twin as a system of systems (SoS) for complex systems by utilizing extreme data. The development a digital twin for an ocean going vessel, as a vessel hull and ship systems to improve ship energy efficiency has also been discussed in this presentation. The subtopics of this presentation consist of SoS from Extreme Data, Marine Engine Data Clusters, Marine Engine Data Super Clusters, SoS Data Space, Extreme Data, Ship Energy Efficiency, Engine Super Cluster, Other Super Clusters, and Operation Modes.
